Extreme Mommyhood: What Do You Do To Avoid Burn-Out?
It’s easy to burn-out as a mother. In the old traditional school of thought, moms are suppose to do it all and put themselves at the bottom of their priority list. We all know a burnt-out mommy is no fun, plus if she’s not happy, ain’t nobody happy! Watch Susan Kay from SusanKayWyatt.com and Kimberley Blaine from TheGoToMom.TV talk about what they do to replenish their mommy soul.

That was fun.. I am in the mood to try some Karate so I can not only get some exercise, but be a Karate super action hero to my sons. They need to see their mama do some Karate:-)
If you could see the look in my daughter’s eyes on Spar night when she watches MOMMY go into the LION’S DEN! She is so proud of me! It is incredible! YOU GO GIRL!
That ski footage was insane! You so need a helmet cam for those kind of action sequences.
I chill out by making time to hang out with friends – cocktails, luncheons, mom’s movie matinees.
Great reminder to moms to avoid burn out. I avoid burn out by running–I’m not really a runner by nature, but I signed up to do a half marathon in January with 4 girlfriends and have found that the weekly running commitments are keeping me more sane as a mom. Who knew?!
Ok…I should definitely get out more. You both put me to shame. No, wait…you both totally INSPIRED me. I want to be a gym rat again.
Doood, did I just see Susan taking you down Kimberly? LOL
That was great! I’m a total gym rat too. Haven’t gotten to burn out yet. You should come film me with my kickboxing private lessons.
Remember she said “she has anger issues?” – SK did take me down. Oh man.
Skiing and taping – hilarious! I think an afternoon of shoe shopping is zen like! I loved seeing you two at the end! So cute!
Loved seeing you and Susan together. Mama burn-out never ends and you have to keep changing the solutions to keep yourself engaged with life! Great new site Kimberley- I’m really enjoying watching the genesis of a great new Go To Mommy project.
Loved the skiing footage and karate moves! You two ROCK!!!! I took up running this past year to avoid mommy burnout and it really has been one of the greatest things for me ever. Huge stress reliever and great way to clear your head! Avoiding mommy burnout is IMPORTANT. Thanks for the reminder that we also need to find time to take care of ourselves!
You hit the nail on the head. Moms need time for “Themselves” without it we are a wreck. Or at least I am!
Can’t wait until you come out for a day of skiing here in Colorado. I just spent a week in Maui and I feel somewhat recharged but still don;t have that release I need. I am going to try the gym rat thing I think.
I had to watch again… what a great reminder that I need to plan a SKI TRIP!!!!!! I promise to “attempt” to take my Sony CX150 down the slopes! It rained in LA so there MUST be some snow up high…. yes? Don’t make me come over there & kick mother nature’s beeehind….;-)
